task 1:
Task 1 required me to present a Professional Development class to a group of teachers at one of my practicum sites. I chose the teachers at my main site. The course topic I chose was Pinterest: For Teachers. I enjoy using the social networking site Pinterest. I have found so many practical teaching ideas on this site and have come to realize the many ways the site can be used in and out of the classroom. My powerpoint presentation had my Professional Development course web page embedded into it in order to allow me to navigate the pages with the teachers in real time. This allowed me to have a more interactive class with them instead of just showing slides on a screen. I sent each teacher this file ahead of time so they could load it on their laptops and have it ready when they arrived. I tried to upload this presentation into Slide Share, but it prevented the web page from being viewed.
Presentation
Although a Power Point is not considered Web 2.0, I have embedded my whole course website into the presentation, so that it can be more interactive than just regular slides with pictures.

task 2:
I chose the Webs website builder as the platform for building my online Professional Development course. This website is very similar to using Weebly and I found it to be very user friendly in designing my course. The only thing I failed to realize when building my course is that Webs only allows you to create 10 pages. I'd hit my 10th page before I was even finished and had to go back to combine some parts of the course without overwhelming my learners. I really enjoyed creating an online course and can see the benefits in my professional career.
task 3:
Task 3 required me to establish a wiki, blog, or other appropriate Web 2.0 resource to support a professional learning community at one of my school sites. I included a forums section in my online Professional Development course for teachers to ask questions or post relevant content. The link to the Forums is here.
Key Assessment:
This Key Assessment was an Advocacy Plan created in FRIT 7132. This plan demonstrates my ability to create a learning environment using newer forms of technology. Implementation of this plan would allow students to use e-readers in place of formal textbooks for their educational needs.
