professional Philosophy
For as long as I can remember, I have always enjoyed going to the library. I would always join the reading program offered at our local library every summer and add books to my list. Being around books and finding something I haven't read before is pure excitement for me. I want to instill my love for reading and books in children, so they can experience the same excitement when they are opening a book for the first time or the fiftieth.
To be a media specialist, you must be a teacher, instructional partner, information specialist, program administrator, and leader. To possess these qualities, one must continue to immerse themselves in learning and professional growth. I chose to be a media specialist for these reasons. I want to continue to learn new things and I want to take what I have learned and pass that knowledge on to others. There is a quote that says "Teaching is the professions that creates all others". This quote is so profound and shows the importance of education. I want to be a resource for teachers and students, so they can be the best out there. I want to give them the tools they need to continue to learn and grow, no matter their age or level of technological expertise.
There is a wealth of information to be learned. I want to be an advocate for intellectual freedom, so students and teachers can always have access to the answers they need, even before they know they will ask them. If I can do these things each day, then I can ensure that those that enter my media center have the tools to be 21st century learners and beyond.
